Color Me Happy

I am a big fan of art, I love being surrounded by it.
I would be thrilled if my daughter develops an interest in it as well.
I wish schools would devote more time to art and music...
It's disappointing to see how many schools don't
have a program dedicated to either of these.
Over the years I've collected quite a bit of art.  I enjoy anything from abstract to antique, as well as photography.  I mostly collect paintings and black and white photos I've taken myself.  The price I pay varies a great deal.  I've found items at art shows, searched online, etsye-bay and antique stores.
If you're on a budget, there's a cool website with a great concept.
They sell limited editions at low prices; it's called 20x200

If you prefer antique paintings, you'll have a lot to choose from on e-bay
(this link will take you to a good search)

Here are a few things I found on etsy:

You can purchase here

I like this painting of an orange cat, he reminded me of
our old neighborhood cat, Henry.

I love storms and the dark colors in this.

I think these LOVE prints are really cute.

I had to include this because it's titled 'Lucy Making a Getaway to Sausalito'
Weird, huh?

Carmel by the Sea.

Hope everyone can survive the heat this weekend.  Stay cool!

Gaga for Greek

One of my favorite elements of design is the Greek key (or fret) pattern.  It's a continuous line in a repeated motif, usually used as a border.

There are countless ways you can use this pattern.  What's great about fretwork is being able to use with any type of decor from traditional to mod.

I bought this tray from etsy to set on my new buffet.

These glasses are going to join my new tray.

I liked these tumblers as well but decided on the gold ones.

Paint by numbers in a Greek key frame.

Antique Silverware.

Lovely room, lovely rug.

Pillows.

These cornice boards are striking!

Instead of commenting on what I like in this photo, it would easier to ask what I don't like.  So...I don't like the table on the left side of the bed.  The rest: love.

CHEERFUL

Understated detailing at the bottom of the skirt.

Shower curtain and matching towels in a stark white bathroom.

I would happily use any piece of furniture with this motif.

Nice neutral (rug).

I believe this desk came from the days of Domino.

Still no camera cord.
I broke down and ordered a new one along with a lens cap I lost at the same time.

A Great Gift

Well, I survived!!!
I successfully packed up the house, closed without a hitch, and moved to our new condo on Short St.  Luckily, I had a team of help; my mom gets the award for Champ of All Time!  Seriously.  You wouldn't believe how much energy, determination and words of encouragement she gave me. She'd keep me going even though I was exhausted.  It seemed that she never grew tired?  Unbelievable.
The Xhemajli girls were a close second.  Lemme tell you, those girls are amazing little human beings.  They are a family my parents adopted through their church (from Kosovo) many years ago.  They had 3 girls at the time and now they have 5 children- 4 girls and a boy.  Anyway, they came over and helped me clean, organize, tranport bags and boxes all while telling you how beautiful you are and making us laugh the whole time.  Kim and Karen brought over champagne!, food, wine and helped me during their visit.  Great friends they are.  I was so greatful that Connie kept Lucy the entire weekend I moved.  And my my dad was a quiet support.  :-)  He can't do as much as he used to, but always wants to help and does what he can.

I tend to start typing and then get off course.  I wish I was posting some pictures of the condo but I need to find the cord to my camera and I will get some up ASAP.

In the meantime, the new issue of Lonny is online.

I still complain about it being online and wanting a printed version.  So when my mom asked me what I want for my birthday, I didn't hesitate- a copy of Lonny Magazine!  The cost is anywhere from $30-$40 and up.  And even though they are expensive, I'd like to eventually purchase them all.

The one I asked for is from February/March 2010.

Why yes!  I DO want the skinny on spare space.

I recieved this chevron striped make-up bag as a gift.
I carry it everywhere, everyday.

Retro pink bathroom?  Liven it up with some great wallpaper.

Love everything about this space.

I am so in love with faux bamboo, especially chandeliers.
I had one in my daughters room and was going to take it with me when I moved.
In the 11th hour however, was so tired I could hardly move and left it hanging.

Just a couple more things to finish in the condo and
promise to post pictures sooner than later.

Have a great weekend!
