I Have to Share!

Although I've been a long time reader and lover of design blogs, I'm the
'new kid' when it comes to writing and keeping up with my own.
So....imagine my excitement when one of my favorite bloggers,
Kelly Galvin Robson of High Street Market,
asked if it was okay that she did a post about my entry way!?!
Um, yes!  Of course you can!!
I was flattered (to say the least).

If you have't had a chance to check out her shop on etsy, make sure that you do.  She always has great vintage pieces.  And as I share more pictures of my house, I'll point out the things I've purchased from her.
Thanks for making my day, Kelly!

Quick Bedroom Makeover

One of my girlfriends will be having company in about a month and wants
to spruce up her downstairs guest room.
She'd like to get a new bed, night stands and lamps.
Here is the bedroom now:

I thought a simple white headboard may look best.  One that was upholstered would take too long so I thought this slip-covered one from
Pottery Barn would work well.

Would get the slipcover in white.

I would fold back the quilt and get some fun sheets.

Some solid dark blue euro shams.

I like this nightstand from cb2 and I would add a piece of hardware;
maybe a shiny brass ring drawer pull.

Found one here.

White (I like the glass ones too) lamps from Ballard Designs

A lamp for the dresser and some art/photos on the wall and I think we'd be done!

For the Decorator

Anthropologie has a new section on their website called For the Decorator
It was fun to read through.

And speaking of Anthropologie... I got my haircut on a whim last night.  I was going for the 'wavy bob' that Brooklyn Decker just had done to her hair.
Mine is a bit shorter and wow, I am still in shock.

So until it grows and I get used to it, I'm going to need some cute clips or a headband.
And if you see me, just lie and tell me you like it!

Have a good weekend!

Brainstorming

I'm really excited to be helping one of my best friends
design and decorate a couple rooms in her house!
I've been brainstorming the past few days and here are
some of the pieces I've been mulling over.
In her TV room, the sofa currently sits against a wall that has windows covered with plantation shutters.  I'd like to pull the sofa out a bit and put a console table behind it with two lamps and hang some graphic drapery panels on the windows.
Option for a console table.

These lamps would be a good possibility.
(I would put black shades on them).

Love these.

Or these.  They are stunning.

Another option for a console table.  Lucite!

Found these inexpensive gems at my new favorite store, Circa Who.
Probably use black shades.

Liked these as well.

I think the room needs some curtain panels with a simple pattern.
Would like to tie the dark brown in somewhere.

This would be a great piece to use somewhere.

For the living room, a new rug with either a bold pattern
OR

A neutral sisal.  If you went with a neutral rug, you could do a
really fun print with the sofa or chairs (or both).
Have loved this coffee table for a looong time.  I think the living room will need something round since it currently has a lot of edges.  The modern chrome and traditional marble top creates a classic look.
And from cb2, the price is always right.
The dark wood could work just as well.  It would also help ground the space.

I could see this lamp in a corner of the living room.  lalala love it!
Have always wanted to get one but don't have the space.  Although Mel does!!

(Mel,) Picture these painted black against the wall where the 6 pieces of art are and the small table underneath.  You could fill these with books, curiosities, photos.
It would also bring some height to the room.

Until next time.....

Rug for Kitchen

Just stumbled across the online shop, Modern Chic.  They carry some cute stuff.  Especially this flamestitch rug that is the perfect size
and would be a perfect fit in my kitchen.

Don't you agree?

Finderskeepers Market

I found the cutest shop today!  And the best part??  I can walk to it!  Finderskeepers Market just opened around the corner from my house on Walton Ave.
CHECK IT OUT!
Their shop used to be in Mt. Sterling but when I spoke with one of the owners, he said most of their clientele traveled from Lexington.  So they moved to LexVegas.
Lucky for us!
They carry furniture, accessories, the best candles I've ever smelled, textiles, artwork, vintage black & white photos, outdoor seating and more.  I fell in love with some modern chairs that were only $110/each.  And if I had the money, would have packed up all the wonderful scents and taken them with me.

 Vintage Matador Poster

 Love the bird prints

They also have a blog, The New Victorian Ruralist.

Enjoy~!

Pillows

Pillows are a great way to accent and pull a room together.  I of course love them.
But prooooobably not as much as my friend, Kim.
A lot of the pillows I have were custom but there are tons of gorgeous ones already made.  Some of my favorites are from Furbish or Etsy

I picked out the fabrics for the pillows on my sofa and had them made.
Fabrics were from Ethan Allen.

I have these pillows in my office, they are even cuter in person.

Love this mirror!

Peonies are my favorite flower. My house would be full of them year round if they were in bloom for more than two weeks a year. Maybe I need a pretty portrait of them instead??
